Jared Sexton is Professor of African American Studies and Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine, where he is affiliated with the Critical Theory Emphasis, the Ph.D. Programs in Culture & Theory and Visual Studies, and the Center in Law, Society, and Culture. He is the author of Amalgamation Schemes: Antiblackness and the Critique of Multiracialism, Black Masculinity and the Cinema of Policing, and Black Men, Black Feminism: Lucifer’s Nocturne as well as various articles, chapters, and essays on contemporary political and popular culture in the United States. His research has been supported by the Fulbright Program, the Ford Foundation, the National Science Foundation, the University of California Office of the President, and the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
