Bernard Stiegler  was born in 1952. He is currently president of the Institut de recherche et d’innovation du Centre Pompidou and of the Ars Industrialis association. He was professor of philosophy at the université de technologie de Compiègne, and is distinguished professor at Nanjing University, visiting professor at the China academy of arts in Hangzhou.

He also taught at Humboldt University in Berlin, Leuphana University, London University (Goldsmiths college), Cambridge University (Queens college), Ecole polytechnique fédérale in Zurich, and Northwestern university (Chicago). In 2010 he created the online school pharmakon.fr.

He published 35 books, the main one being Technics and Time.
