(Un)rooted in the toxicity of Romania’s necropastoral wastelands, Traian Cherecheș‘s artistic process metabolizes the scattered fractures, affects, and artefacts of his surroundings—pieced together into compost-human assemblages, labyrinthine cartographies, sonic incantations fractalizing through non-linear tempo-realities, prefiguring monstrous futurities. Spilling through the cracks of planetary and personal strata, where scales, historicities collapse into the alien mastications of the dumping-ground-as-wound ritualizing an atavistic en-counter. Mask, Spine, Volcano, Womb—protean residues reacting in a theater of endurance/extinction/emergence— where figures devour grounds, and grounds reflux, unmaking one-an-other. He tells the understory of endings as beginnings: a chthonic cosmopoetics of dis(e)ruption.

Contaminating the isolated consumer “self” from within, migrating across different mediums and forms, his practice summons dis-orientating methodologies—scrying, cut-up collages, spaces for trance-formations—warping between the urgencies of present ecological crisis into the not-yet-born. Decomposing as dissociation from/through the para-site—against the inhuman possessions of the Capitalocene, driven by the enlightened economies of excess and expenditure. Inviting exposures and absorptions to other imaginal possibilities through the remains cast to the peripheries of the control machines.  An unbinding of the subject toward an extra-sensorium of inanimist ma(s)king—together with the dis-figured, discarded, untotalizable Outsides.
